2012 Local Employment Dynamics (LED) Partnership Workshop March 7-8, 2012 Sheraton Crystal City Hotel, Arlington, VA The LED Partnership is a collaborative partnership between state data agencies and the Census Bureau to leverage existing data in the development of new sources of economic and demographic information for policy makers and data users. The workshop provides professional development and networking for Labor Market Information directors, data analysts and data providers at state and federal agencies, nonprofit organizations, businesses, and other data users of the Local Employment Dynamics data set. The theme for this year’s workshop is Local Data for Local Decisions. We will be highlighting the work of our state LMI partners and other state and local data users through plenary and breakout sessions. Webinar: PA’s use of Census Bureau LED data

This presentation will focus on Pennsylvania’s customized use of Local Employment Dynamics (LED) data. It will display the Local Employment Dynamics Access Database created by Pennsylvania and distributed to local area workforce investment boards. It will also highlight examples of the integration of LED Quarterly Workforce Indicators (QWI) data with existing data sets for use in monthly and customized reports. It will also demonstrate, in greater detail, how other states can use the database structure to create their own customized LED database. Robert Pitts of the U.S. Census Bureau will demonstrate the latest version of the Bureau’s OnTheMap for Emergency Management. Population Dynamics of the Great Plains: 1950 to 2007

Although the population of the Great Plains has grown more rapidly than the U.S. population as a whole since the middle of the 20th century, most of its counties have lost population over the period, according to a Census Bureau report released today. The region’s overall population increase was limited primarily to metropolitan counties.
