Follow-up of 9th to 11th Graders

NCES has issued the first results from its follow-up of how 9th graders fared 2.5 years later, when most of the students were in the Spring term of 11th grade. The results include important findings on dropping out, progress by socioeconomic background, math scores, and students’ preparation and expectations for adulthood.

Appalachian Region: Data Overview

The Population Reference Bureau has prepared a series of extremely useful tables and maps on the 13 Appalachian states (the maps depict the region’s 420 counties) using combined 2007-2011 Census Bureau American Community Survey data. Issued by the Appalachian Regional Commission, the study includes chapters on the region’s labor force, educational attainment, income and poverty, and migration patterns as well as other demographic and housing data.
