2012 GDP for 381 Metro Areas

The U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) recently issued its advance 2012 gross domestic product (GDP) data for all 381 Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSA’s) — of which 305 experienced inflation-adjusted growth since 2011. BEA issues metro-area GDP 9 months after the end of the calendar year.

For the news release, see Economic Growth Widespread Across Metropolitan Areas in 2012 — for additional tables (including customized tables) and a map, see the options at the right side of GDP by Metropolitan Area, Advance 2012.

For a plain language explanation of GDP and other economic data, see ETA’s roughly 10-minute podcast (and accompanying transcript) on Economic Data 101 for Employment and Training Programs.
